Mel Jacobson

Provisional Psychologist

Mel is a Provisional Psychologist, commencing her internship with Core Therapy in February 2018. Mel completed a Bachelor of Behavioural Studies (Psychology) with Swinburne University of Technology in 2015, followed by a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) Honours with Edith Cowan University in 2017.


Mel is passionate about working with children, adolescents, adults, and families using positive psychology/ Neuropsychotherapy frameworks, to provide support in a compassionate holistic way. Mel is currently undertaking training in Neuropsychotherapy and non-verbal methods of communication with an aim of developing specific skills to provide effective psychological services to non-verbal clientele.

Areas of Interest:

Mel believes that it is an honour to share in a person’s journey during the therapy process. With unconditional positive regard for our clients, Mel uses a range of therapeutic approaches, including positive psychology, cognitive behavioural therapy, play therapy and neuropsychotherapy, to assist people to identify and implement methods to allow them to increase well-being and thrive.


In addition to working at Core, Mel also works with the South West Autism Network, providing support to individuals and their families with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Mel has developed a specific interest in working with individuals who may find verbal communication difficult, and is passionate about providing an inclusive therapy environment to ensure non-verbal clientele are able to access effective therapy services to help them thrive.
